Last year, Sen. Ossoff <\/em>successfully fought<\/em><\/a> to pass a bipartisan disaster relief package that included $10 billion in economic assistance for farmers<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bipartisan package also included $21 billion in disaster relief, which will be released separately by USDA<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Atlanta, Ga. \u2013 <\/strong>This week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced it has opened applications for economic aid to farmers that Sen. Ossoff helped<\/a> pass into law.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last December, Sen. Ossoff successfully fought<\/a> to pass a bipartisan disaster relief package that included $10 billion in economic assistance for farmers who have struggled in recent years with difficult market conditions and rising costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The one-time Federal economic assistance program will be administered by USDA\u2019s Farm Service Agency (FSA) through the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program. According to USDA, FSA will soon begin sending pre-filled applications to eligible producers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Producers must submit their applications by August 15, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Farmers and producers can submit their applications at their local FSA office or by visiting fsa.usda.gov\/ecap<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff continues fighting for Georgia farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock urged<\/a> the Trump Administration to swiftly distribute Federal economic assistance secured by Congress for Georgia farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In November, Sen. Ossoff testified<\/a> before the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations on the urgent need to support Georgia agriculture after the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene. Following his testimony, Georgia farmers announced<\/a> that they are backing Sen. Ossoff\u2019s bipartisan push to pass agricultural disaster assistance before the end of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September, in the immediate days after Hurricane Helene, Sen. Ossoff and Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08), alongside Georgia\u2019s entire Congressional Delegation, led a bipartisan, bicameral group of 34 lawmakers<\/a> from Southeastern states urging Congressional Leadership to ensure disaster relief resources are made available to agricultural producers following the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
