Ossoff Introduces Bipartisan Bill to Help First Responders Suffering from PTSD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, D.C.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is introducing bipartisan legislation to strengthen support for first responders suffering from PTSD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff this week helped introduce the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Fighting Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Act<\/em>&nbsp;to help first responders who are dealing with long-term mental health effects. The bill was introduced by Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Chris Coons (D-DE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bipartisan bill would direct the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to develop evidence-based treatment programs for first responders across the country, similar to services already available to military personnel who develop PTSD or acute stress disorders.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur first responders put their lives on the line every day to keep Georgia families safe. We have a duty to ensure they have access to the mental health support they need,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Fighting PTSD Act<\/em>&nbsp;is endorsed by Major County Sheriffs of America and the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff continues working to improve quality of life for Georgia\u2019s public servants and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Social Security Fairness Act<\/em>&nbsp;was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/bipartisan-bill-championed-by-sen-ossoff-becomes-law-to-increase-retirement-benefits-for-georgia-teachers-first-responders\/\">signed into law<\/a>&nbsp;to increase retirement benefits for Georgia teachers and first responders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, Sens.
