Washington, D.C. \u2014<\/strong> U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff today announced more Georgia veterans are now eligible for VA health care under the PACT Act<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the bipartisan PACT Act<\/em> Sen. Ossoff helped pass into law in 2022<\/a>, more Georgia veterans can now apply for benefits through the VA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The VA recently announced<\/a> expanded VA health care for thousands of veterans through the PACT Act<\/em>, including those battling bladder cancer, ureter cancer, other genitourinary cancers, acute and chronic leukemias, and multiple myeloma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the VA<\/a>, this step lowers the burden of proof for veterans, meaning that they do not need to prove that their service caused their condition to receive benefits for it. Instead, the VA automatically assumes service connection for the condition and provides benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur bipartisan PACT<\/em> <\/em>Act<\/em> <\/em>is the most significant strengthening of VA health care in decades, and it was long overdue,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong> \u201cI encourage any Georgia veteran with questions about thePACT<\/em> <\/em>Act<\/em> <\/em>or who need assistance with the VA to contact me and my office at ossoff.senate.gov<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To apply for care or benefits today, veterans can visit VA.gov\/PACT<\/a> or call 1-800-MYVA411. More information on eligibility can also be found at VA.gov\/PACT<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff continues working to support Georgia\u2019s servicemembers, military families, and veterans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, Sen. Ossoff\u2019s bipartisan Gold Star Children Education Act<\/em> to support the education of children after the loss of a parent who served was signed into law<\/a> as part of this year\u2019s National Defense Authorization Act<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last March, as a result of the bipartisan PACT Act <\/em>championed by Sen. Ossoff, the VA announced<\/a> that veterans who were exposed to toxins and other hazards while serving in the military are now eligible to enroll directly in VA health care without going through the VA benefits application process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last January, Sen. Ossoff held a press conference in Decatur to brief Georgia veterans and small business owners on his bipartisan Investing in VETS Act<\/em>, which was signed into law<\/a> as part of the FY2024 National Defense Authorization Act <\/em>to increase opportunities for service-disabled veteran small business owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
