Sen. Ossoff announced introduction of the bill last summer in East Point<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

East Point, Ga. \u2014<\/strong> U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff\u2019s legislation to help upgrade East Point\u2019s water infrastructure is now law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff\u2019s East Point Water Infrastructure Enhancement Act<\/em> was signed into law<\/a> earlier this month as part of the Water Resources Development Act<\/em> reauthorization to upgrade water infrastructure for families and businesses across East Point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff\u2019s law expands a current authorization for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to conductwater infrastructure projects in the city, which would improve quality of life and strengthen resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the new authorization, Congress can now appropriate more funding for the Army Corps to partner with the city on water infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs the City of East Point continues to grow, there\u2019s a need to strengthen water infrastructure for families and businesses. That\u2019s why bringing Republicans and Democrats together, I passed into lawmy legislation to strengthen the U.S. Army Corps\u2019 partnership with East Point to upgrade infrastructure and quality of life,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are grateful to President Biden for signing the East Point Water Infrastructure Enhancement Act <\/em>and his leadership and direct investment in strengthening local infrastructure. This signing would not have been possible without Senator Ossoff\u2019s consistent and persistent advocacy for funding to help address East Point\u2019s critical aging infrastructure needs,\u201d said East Point Mayor Deana Holiday Ingraham.<\/strong> \u201cHis foresight to introduce, champion and shepherd the passage of this critical legislation puts East Point in the position to now pursue up to $20 million from the Army Corps of Engineers to assist with strengthening and enhancing our water infrastructure facilities and system. This is monumental for East Point and we are truly grateful to Senator Ossoff for ensuring authorization of funding that will positively impact East Pointers and our other water customers for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff continues working to strengthen Georgia\u2019s water infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June, Sen. Ossoff delivered<\/a> Federal funding to help the City of College Park install a new water storage tank and booster system, which will ensure residents have access to reliable, clean drinking water, and accommodate economic growth in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff also delivered<\/a> new resources to help replace Rockdale County\u2019s 50-year-old water pump station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, Sen. Ossoff and Congresswoman Lucy McBath passed into law<\/a> their Chattahoochee River Act<\/em>, a first-of-its-kind law that authorizes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to work on water projects up and down the Chattahoochee River throughout the state of Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
