Ossoff helped pass into law in 2022, out-of-pocket prescription drug spending for Georgia seniors with Medicare Part D is now capped at $2,000 per year<\/em><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Atlanta, Ga.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 Thanks to U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff, Georgia seniors will no longer have to pay more than $2,000 per year for prescription drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting today, thanks to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/states.aarp.org\/georgia\/aarp-georgia-thanks-senators-ossoff-and-warnock-for-historic-vote-toward-real-relief-on-prescription-drug-pricing\">legislation Sen. Ossoff helped pass into law in 2022<\/a>, out-of-pocket prescription drug costs for seniors with Medicare Part D are now capped at $2,000 per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/states.aarp.org\/georgia\/new-aarp-report-impact-of-historic-medicare-rx-out-of-pocket-spending-cap-on-georgia-seniors\">According to AARP<\/a>, the new prescription drug cap Sen. Ossoff helped pass into law will benefit more than an estimated 100,000 Georgia seniors who spend over $2,000 per year for medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe stood up to the pharmaceutical industry that has been price gouging seniors for decades to cap the out-of-pocket cost for insulin for seniors at $35 per month, and now, starting today, no Georgia senior with Medicare Part D will have to pay more than $2,000 in an entire calendar year for all of their prescriptions combined,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the $35\/month cap on insulin and the $2,000\/year cap on out-of-pocket drug spending, the legislation Sen. Ossoff helped pass into law also empowered Medicare \u2014 for the first time \u2014 to negotiate lower costs on popular and life-saving medicine for seniors, with new, lower costs beginning in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff continues working to protect Georgia seniors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year,&nbsp;a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/watch-sen-ossoff-backed-bipartisan-bill-to-protect-georgia-seniors-from-age-discrimination-passes-key-committee\/\">bipartisan bill<\/a>&nbsp;backed by Sen. Ossoff that would prevent employers from using forced arbitration against older workers seeking justice and accountability in cases of age discrimination passed the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also last spring,&nbsp;Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-pushing-to-expand-cancer-screenings-for-georgia-seniors\/\">co-sponsored<\/a>&nbsp;the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act<\/em>, legislation to expand early detection cancer screenings for Georgia&nbsp;seniors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"># # #<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to legislation Sen.
