Ossoff and Rev. Warnock introduced legislation to honor the Carters by renaming the Post Office located at 119 Main Street in Plains, Georgia, as the&nbsp;<em>Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Post Office.<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The companion&nbsp;bill in the U.S. House of Representatives was first introduced by the entire Georgia Congressional delegation, led by Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), who represents Plains. Rep. Bishop\u2019s legislation passed the House last night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRenaming the post office in Plains, Georgia, in honor of President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter is a tribute to their lifelong service,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u201cThe Carters have left an indelible mark on our nation and the world. A Post Office named in their honor of Plains is a small but fitting tribute to their legacy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJimmy and Rosalynn Carter led exemplary lives while serving Georgians and our nation and were fiercely committed to uplifting the lives of all Americans,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Senator Reverend Warnock.<\/strong>\u201cRenaming the Plains post office after both of these Georgia icons is a small nod to their triumphant legacy in the Peach State.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPresident Jimmy Carter and the late First Lady Rosalynn Carter dedicated their lives in service to their community, their country, and the world. From the Plains Peanut Festival to the Governor\u2019s Mansion, to the White House \u2013 and to communities around the globe \u2013 they remained grounded and humble, and Plains always remained home in their hearts,\u201d<strong>&nbsp;said Congressman Bishop.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cThat is why I am proud to be the lead sponsor of H.R. 9600.
