Garden City, Ga. \u2014 <\/strong>U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff today announced new Federal resources through the bipartisan infrastructure law to strengthen Georgia\u2019s energy security and upgrade Port infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock announced they are delivering over $49 million through the Department of Transportation (DOT)\u2019s Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP) to the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) to improve grid redundancy and resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Federal resources, which come through the bipartisan infrastructure law, will allow the Port of Savannah to create their own electric power distribution network at the Port of Savannah\u2019s Garden City Terminal, rather than having to rely on local energy sources. These resources will further enhance operations and support the significant growth of the Port of Savannah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese upgrades to the Port of Savannah will strengthen Georgia’s energy grid and support opportunity and prosperity in coastal Georgia and statewide. The bipartisan infrastructure law \u2014 the most significant investment in America\u2019s infrastructure since the Eisenhower Administration \u2014 continues to upgrade transportation, water, broadband, and energy infrastructure across our state,\u201dSen. Ossoff said.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe investments we make in energy security today will help make our ports more resilient tomorrow. That is part of the reason I fought so hard to pass bills like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and ensure it included historic investments for Georgia\u2019s ports. Senator Ossoff and I will continue championing investments to keep Georgia\u2019s ports strong,\u201d said Senator Reverend Warnock.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock continue delivering Federal resources to strengthen Georgia\u2019s ports, improve our energy security, and lower costs for families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock announced<\/a> they secured $60,324,102 in Federal funding to strengthen railroad safety across Georgia through the bipartisan infrastructure law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock also announced<\/a> they secured $48,763,746 to install new electric charging infrastructure for ships at the Port of Savannah and the Port of Brunswick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock delivered<\/a> $15 million through the U.S. Department of Transportation to help upgrade infrastructure at the Port of Brunswick \u2014 improving operations, creating economic opportunities, and strengthening Georgia\u2019s supply chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Sen. Ossoff delivered<\/a> a $250 million investment through the bipartisan infrastructure law to strengthen Georgia\u2019s energy grid and ensure Georgia families, small businesses, and the agricultural industry have access to reliable and affordable electricity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
