Ossoff launched an inquiry urging the Administration to strengthen production and supply of IV and dialysis solutions that have become increasingly harder to access in the wake of Hurricane Helene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Baxter International\u2019s factory in North Carolina, one of the largest suppliers of IV fluids in the country, suffered extensive damage and shut down,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcnc.com\/article\/weather\/hurricane\/helene\/baxter-iv-plant-north-cove-north-carolina-update-shipments-hurricane-helene-impacts\/275-a0aa0b71-4d7d-4975-ba7d-b071fcab57a8\">according to local news reports,<\/a>&nbsp;which has drastically reduced supply of IV and dialysis solutions to hospitals in Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5atlanta.com\/news\/hurricane-worsens-iv-fluid-shortage-metro-atlanta-hospitals\">report by FOX5 Atlanta<\/a>, Children\u2019s Healthcare of Atlanta\u2019s most recent delivery included only 40% of its normal supply. According to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/health-news\/two-hurricanes-batter-essential-makers-of-iv-fluids-georgia-hospitals-stretch-supplies\/ZUHOPYVBPNHKZBQKSBZPC7KW7I\/\">reporting by&nbsp;<em>The<\/em>&nbsp;<em>Atlanta Journal-Constitution<\/em><\/a>, Miller County Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Colquitt, was turned down when they sought medical supplies from Baxter International.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn Georgia, hospitals are canceling non-emergency procedures and surgeries to conserve fluids. I have heard many hospitals are down to a 7-day supply, and hospitals in southern Georgia are accepting patients from Florida in the wake of Hurricane Helene which has increased the need for IV fluids,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff wrote to President Biden.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cA prolonged shortage of IV and dialysis solutions would be disastrous for the health and safety of Georgians and would make it more difficult for medical professionals to provide care.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff continues working to ensure Georgia\u2019s hospitals have the resources they need to care for patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-strengthening-dialysis-health-care-in-south-georgia\/\">delivered<\/a>&nbsp;Federal funding for Tift Regional Health System to help upgrade health care services with state-of-the-art equipment for traditional and peritoneal dialysis at Tift Regional Health System, which serves 12 counties in South Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/2024.10.17_IV-shortage-letter.pdf\">Click here<\/a>&nbsp;to read Sen.
