The grants were awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration\u2019s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and made possible in part by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Awardees for the latest set of grants include the Columbus Airport, DeKalb-Peachtree Airport, Dalton Municipal Airport, Polk County Airport, Southwest Georgia Regional Airport, Augusta Regional Airport, Savannah\/Hilton Head International Airport, and GDOT.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u201cGeorgia is one of the most important aviation states in the nation, and as a member of the committee responsible for aviation policy, I will continue&nbsp;working to strengthen Georgia\u2019s transportation infrastructure,\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>said&nbsp;Senator Reverend Warnock.&nbsp;<strong><em>\u201cThis latest investment will continue to take Georgia\u2019s aviation economy to new heights.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u201cGeorgia\u2019s airports are a key driver of job creation and economic competitiveness. Alongside Senator Reverend Warnock, I am pleased to announce the bipartisan infrastructure law will deliver more airport upgrades across the State of Georgia. Our bipartisan infrastructure law will continue to deliver long-overdue upgrades to Georgia\u2019s infrastructure for years to come,\u201d<\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em>said Senator Ossoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A longtime champion for Georgia\u2019s aviation industry, Senator Warnock recently&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.warnock.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/senator-reverend-warnock-secures-major-wins-for-aviation-workforce-georgia-airports-travelers-in-faa-reauthorization\/\">secured provisions in the FAA Reauthorization law<\/a>&nbsp;that will help transform the aviation industry, including provisions to bolster the aviation workforce pipeline and invest in our aviation economy. This summer,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.warnock.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/icymi-senator-reverend-warnock-visits-gulfstream-savannah-tech-to-uplift-historic-investments-in-aviation-workforce-development-georgias-aviation-economy\/\">Senator Warnock toured Gulfstream<\/a>&nbsp;headquarters in Savannah, Georgia, as well as Savannah Tech\u2019s Crossroads Aviation Campus to meet with current students who are training to work at Gulfstream or in Georgia\u2019s aviation economy. Last year, Senator Warnock&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.warnock.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/icymi-senator-reverend-warnock-visits-savannah-to-promote-work-on-affordable-insulin-and-investments-in-georgias-aviation-economy\/\">visited&nbsp;<\/a>Savannah\/Hilton Head International Airport to review progress on federally funded projects, including construction of a security checkpoint expansion. In April 2023, Senator Warnock&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.warnock.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/icymi-senator-reverend-warnock-visits-watkinsville-chamblee-to-highlight-agriculture-and-aviation-workforce-priorities-for-2023\/\">met with local aviation workers and leaders<\/a>&nbsp;at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport in Chamblee, Georgia to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing workers on the frontlines of the aviation industry; following his visit, the Senator introduced the AIRWAYS Act&nbsp;to strengthen the aviation workforce by recruiting and training future industry workers from all zip codes. Additionally, in 2022 Senators&nbsp;Warnock&nbsp;and Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.warnock.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/senators-warnock-ossoff-secure-13-5-million-for-georgia-airports\/\">secured<\/a>&nbsp;$13.5 million to update nine airports across Georgia, including Augusta Regional Airport and Columbus Airport.
