Washington, D.C.<\/strong> \u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is continuing his bipartisan work to strengthen border security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff is championing new bipartisan legislation he co-sponsored to strengthen border security and increase law enforcement coordination, and he recently helped pass the bill through the U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee with bipartisan support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bipartisan Cross Border Aerial Law Enforcement Operations Act<\/em> would direct the Secretary of Homeland Security to negotiate a bilateral agreement with the Government of Canada to establish an integrated cross-border aerial law enforcement program along the border between the U.S. and Canada. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe United States must know and control who crosses our borders. That\u2019s why I\u2019m helping bring Republicans and Democrats together to strengthen border security by advancing this bill through the Homeland Security Committee,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff continues sounding the alarm on threats at America\u2019s borders and working to strengthen border security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June, Sen. Ossoff launched an inquiry<\/a> with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) urging them to prioritize resources toward supporting investigations and prosecutions targeting high-level narcotics and human smuggling operations necessary to stem the flow of illicit drugs, prevent human trafficking, and reduce the threat of terrorism at our southern border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also in June, Sen. Ossoff introduced<\/a> the bipartisan Detection Equipment and Technology Evaluation to Counter the Threat of (DETECT) Fentanyl and Xylazine Act<\/em> to strengthen the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)\u2019s capacity to detect, identify, and disrupt illicit substances being trafficked across the southern border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In May, Sen. Ossoff inspected<\/a> the Paso del Norte port of entry, the area of operations for Border Patrol\u2019s El Paso station, and detention facilities in Texas and New Mexico. He also met with U.S. law enforcement and national security officials and Mexican law enforcement officials in Juarez, Mexico, and warned of the threat of terrorism at the southern border<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
