Washington, D.C. <\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff\u2019s bipartisan bill to strengthen Georgia\u2019s cybersecurity workforce passed a key Senate Committee this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week, Sen. Ossoff’s Federal Cyber Workforce Training Act of 2024,<\/em> which he recently introduced with Senator Mike Rounds (R-SD), passed the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) with bipartisan support to strengthen the Federal cybersecurity workforce and protect families and businesses from cyber threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bipartisan bill would require a new plan to establish a cybersecurity resource and training institute, providing early and mid-career Federal cybersecurity employees with work role-specific training to perform effectively in Federal cyber work positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was a pleasure working with Senator Rounds on this legislation to strengthen our federal cyber workforce. And in Georgia, for example, what\u2019s happening in Augusta, where you have Augusta University\u2019s Georgia Cyber Center, you have the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence at Fort Eisenhower. Augusta, Georgia, is proving to be a national capital for cyber workforce development,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said [<\/strong>CLIP HERE<\/strong><\/a>].<\/strong> \u201cThen you look at the HBCUs in Atlanta that are rapidly scaling cyber workforce curricula and training programs. This bipartisan legislation will support those efforts and efforts across the country to strengthen our cyber workforce. These are not just good paying jobs, they’re good paying jobs that are essential to our national security.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCybersecurity is involved in every aspect of the federal government and continues to rapidly evolve,\u201d said Rounds.<\/strong> \u201cWe can\u2019t simply keep up with this evolution, we must be ahead of the curve. Being proactive in training our federal cyber workforce will help the United States bolster cybersecurity across all agencies of the federal government.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Sen. Ossoff continues working to make Georgia a national leader in tech innovation and manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June, Sen. Ossoff hosted<\/a> White House National Cyber Director Harry Coker, Jr. at the Georgia Cyber Innovation & Training Center and the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence at Fort Eisenhower, where they met with local cybersecurity leaders and experts about how Federal partnerships can bolster Augusta\u2019s cybersecurity workforce. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In May, Sen. Ossoff delivered<\/a> Federal resources to strengthen the Cybersecurity Leadership Center at Clark Atlanta University, increasing the number of career opportunities in the cybersecurity field and boosting opportunities for HBCU students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December, Sen. Ossoff\u2019s bill authorizing upgrades to Fort Eisenhower\u2019s Cyber Center of Excellence was signed into law<\/a>by President Biden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
