Ossoff Announces Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Grant Opportunity to Help Eliminate Blocked Railroad Crossings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, D.C. \u2014\u00a0<\/strong>U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff today announced Federal grant funding is available to help eliminate dangerous railroad crossings in Georgia through the bipartisan infrastructure law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Railroad Crossing Elimination Program, which is&nbsp;made possible by the bipartisan infrastructure law,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/railroads.dot.gov\/grants-loans\/railroad-crossing-elimination-grant-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">provides Federal funding<\/a>&nbsp;for projects to address safety concerns at rail crossings through a competitive U.S. Department of Transportation grant process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligible projects include the addition of grade separations, closing at-grade crossings, and improving existing at-grade crossings where train tracks and roads intersect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>States, local governments, metropolitan planning organizations, or public port authorities can submit applications to be considered for Federal funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications can be submitted\u00a0online\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grants.gov\/search-results-detail\/355334\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">aqu\u00ed<\/a>. Applications to the Railroad Crossing Elimination Funding Opportunity must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on September 23, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBlockages at rail crossings are not just an inconvenience, but they can be a matter of life and death,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff and Warnock delivered Federal resources<\/a>&nbsp;for Chatham, DeKalb, and Gwinnett Counties through the Railroad Crossing Elimination Grant Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last December, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sens-ossoff-rev-warnock-announce-12-million-in-new-bipartisan-infrastructure-law-investments-to-help-eliminate-blocked-rail-crossings-in-jenkins-county\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">delivered<\/a>&nbsp;$12 million in new Federal funding for a project in Jenkins County that will improve mobility by helping eliminate railway-highway crossings through the bipartisan infrastructure law\u2019s Rural Surface Transportation Grant Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, Sen.
