Last October, Sen. Ossoff <\/em>announced<\/em><\/a> Augusta-Richmond County was designated a Regional Tech Hub through the \u201cCHIPS Act\u201d program<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Federal funding will boost local efforts to strengthen energy security & create jobs<\/em>\u202f<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Augusta, Ga. <\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff today announced a historic Federal investment to strengthen energy security and boost economic development in Augusta and across the CSRA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Sen. Ossoff announced that approximately $45 million in Federal funding will be headed to Augusta, the CSRA, and South Carolina to help create jobs, strengthen national security, and produce innovative technologies as part of the bipartisan CHIPS Act<\/em> \u201cTech Hub\u201d program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last October, Sen. Ossoff announced<\/a> that Augusta-Richmond County and regions of South Carolina were designated as a Regional Tech Hub through the CHIPS Act<\/em> program, paving the way for this Federal grant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Federal funding will support the SC Nexus for Advanced Resilient Energy<\/a> (SC Nexus) Tech Hub coalition, which includes Augusta University, the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and the U.S. Army Cyber Command at Fort Eisenhower, along with other economic development organizations, institutions of higher education, and industry partners in Georgia and South Carolina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGeorgia remains on track to become the nation\u2019s advanced energy capital, powered by Federal infrastructure and manufacturing legislation,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong> \u201cToday\u2019s Federal grant announcement through our bipartisan CHIPS Act<\/em> is a testament to Augusta and Georgia\u2019s research, logistics, workforce, and entrepreneurial assets. I congratulate Mayor Garnett Johnson, the Augusta Commission, and all local leaders involved, and I thank President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Secretary Raimondo for their continued collaboration as we lead Georgia forward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, thanks to the Tech Hubs program, we\u2019re making good on that sentiment by expanding America\u2019s innovation ecosystem and creating economic opportunity in new technology sectors all over the country,\u201d saidU.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo<\/strong>. \u201cThanks to President Biden\u2019s commitment to his Investing in America agenda, the SC Nexus for Advanced Resilient Energy and the other Tech Hub awardees will play a critical role in accelerating America\u2019s leadership in the industries of the future, all while creating high quality, family-sustaining 21st century jobs in people\u2019s backyards.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff continues working to make Georgia a national leader in tech innovation and manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June, Sen. Ossoff hosted<\/a> White House National Cyber Director Harry Coker, Jr. at the Georgia Cyber Innovation & Training Center and the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence at Fort Eisenhower, where they met with local cybersecurity leaders and experts about how Federal partnerships can bolster Augusta\u2019s cybersecurity workforce. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December, Sen. Ossoff\u2019s bill authorizing upgrades to Fort Eisenhower\u2019s Cyber Center of Excellence was\u00a0signed into law<\/a>\u00a0by President Biden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
