Ossoff Introduces Bill to Keep Military Families with Newborns Together"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, D.C.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is introducing legislation to keep military families together when welcoming a new child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week, Sen. Ossoff introduced the<em>&nbsp;Military Families Support Act<\/em>, which would exempt active duty servicemembers from being deployed, mobilized, or sent to trainings away from their duty stations for a year, helping keep families together after welcoming a new child. The policy would also include servicemembers who adopt a child or those undergoing fertility treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This one-year post-partum deferment is currently available to U.S. Army soldiers, but Sen. Ossoff&#8217;s new bill would extend this benefit across the Armed Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWelcoming a child into the world is one of the greatest blessings. I\u2019ve heard consistently from servicemembers about the strain being deployed or sent to training has on families with newborns,\u201d<strong>&nbsp;said Sen. Ossoff.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m introducing this new bill to strengthen families\u2019 quality of life and keep military families together after having a child.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff continues to champion Georgia\u2019s military families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In April, Sen. Ossoff launched a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-pushing-to-expand-maternal-health-care-for-military-moms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">push to pass<\/a>&nbsp;the&nbsp;<em>MOMS Who Serve Act of 2024,&nbsp;<\/em>legislation he co-sponsored to help moms in the armed forces access perinatal health care services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff also began a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-working-across-the-aisle-to-improve-military-maternal-health-care\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">push to pass<\/a>&nbsp;the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Improving Access to Maternal Health for Military and Dependent Moms Act<\/em>, legislation he co-sponsored alongside Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Jon Tester (D-MT) to improve access to maternal health care for moms in the armed forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In December, Sens.
