West Point, Ga.<\/strong> \u2014 Today U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff celebrated the start of production for KIA\u2019s first American-made electric vehicle right here in Georgia, less than two years after passage of manufacturing policies championed by Sen. Ossoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In July 2023, one year after passage of domestic manufacturing policies championed by Sen. Ossoff, KIA announced<\/a> it would build its first American EV production line in Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A KIA representative confirmed in recent reporting by Inside EV<\/a> that the company plans to ensure EV9s produced in Georgia qualify for incentives under the new law, known as the Inflation Reduction Act<\/em>, which incentivizes domestic production of electric vehicles and advanced energy technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI congratulate KIA Georgia on this huge milestone reached less than two years after the enactment of made-in-America manufacturing incentives we passed into law. I thank all at the state, local, and Federal levels who have for years supported KIA\u2019s success in our state. Georgians are proud these beautiful cars are produced in Georgia and made in America,\u201d said Sen. Ossoff. <\/strong>\u201cI caution those who have called for the repeal of made-in-America manufacturing policies: repealing these incentives will hurt Georgia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former President Trump<\/a> and some Georgia politicians<\/a> have supported repeal of the made-in-American manufacturing incentives that will make Georgia-produced electric vehicles more affordable for consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Georgia has benefitted more than any other state from the Federal manufacturing incentives,\u00a0according to a recent study<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
