Ossoff announced that Absolics, a subsidiary of SKC, will receive up to $75 million in Federal funding through the bipartisan\u00a0<em>CHIPS Act<\/em>\u00a0to strengthen domestic semiconductor production in Georgia, supporting the construction of a 120,000 square foot facility in Covington and\u00a0creating manufacturing, R&amp;D, and construction jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Federal funding will strengthen U.S. national security and help make Georgia a national leader in semiconductor manufacturing. Absolics manufactures glass substrate, an important component for next-generation semiconductor manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is a great day for Georgia&#8217;s economic development. When we set out to pass the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Chips Act<\/em>&nbsp;through Congress, it was with this exact goal in mind. This historic Federal investment will create Georgia jobs, support U.S. national security, and bring more advanced manufacturing to our state,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/georgia-enters-semiconductor-sector-with-600m-factory-groundbreaking\/4NYHG7HENBHIBO5PA67QCNLNPA\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">joined Absolics\u2019 leadership<\/a>&nbsp;to break ground on their facility in Covington, Georgia, which created 400 highly skilled jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith the support of this proposed CHIPS funding, Absolics will be able to fully commercialize our pioneering glass substrate technology for use in high-performance computing and cutting-edge defense applications. This effort is crucial in establishing a robust semiconductor advanced packaging ecosystem in the State of Georgia and restoring the U.S.\u2019s leadership in semiconductor industry.
