Sen. Ossoff requests updated on-time delivery statistics from USPS within one week<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington, D.C.<\/strong> \u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is continuing to press the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) on lengthy delays impacting families and businesses across Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Sen. Ossoff launched a new inquiry<\/a> requesting an update from USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy on the current on-time delivery statistics in the metro Atlanta area as families and businesses continue to face lengthy delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, Sen. Ossoff pressed Postmaster General DeJoy<\/a> \u2014 under oath \u2014 for specific answers and solutions to the months-long delays Georgia families and businesses continue to face getting mail and packages on-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt has been nearly a month since we spoke at the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing on April 16 concerning service failures at the Atlanta Regional Processing and Distribution Center in Palmetto,\u201d Sen. Ossoff wrote. <\/strong>\u201cAs we have discussed throughout the past few weeks, it is urgent that the performance of USPS delivery in Georgia improve immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs I have said repeatedly, postal workers working diligently every day to deliver the mail on time deserve the infrastructure and the management competence to enable them to do so,\u201d Sen. Ossoff continued.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time of the hearing, the percentage of inbound mail delivered on time was only 36 percent following the implementation of the Atlanta Regional Processing and Distribution Center at the end of February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March, Sen. Ossoff first launched an inquiry<\/a> pressing Postmaster General DeJoy to provide detailed answers and explanation amid growing reports<\/a> of missing and delayed mail processed through the Atlanta Regional Processing and Distribution Center \u2014 impacting families\u2019 ability to get life-saving medicine and vital mail services, hurting small businesses, delaying absentee ballots, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
