Ossoff that would prevent employers from using forced arbitration against older workers seeking justice and accountability in cases of age discrimination passed the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Protecting Older Americans Act&nbsp;<\/em>now heads to the full Senate for a vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve just advanced landmark legislation to ensure that older Americans who face age discrimination in the workplace can have their day in court,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ILPBZb-1Zws\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>said<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;after the Committee advanced the legislation.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cIt is a great day for the Judiciary Committee, and I hope that the whole Senate will take up this measure as soon as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aarp.org\/pri\/topics\/work-finances-retirement\/employers-workforce\/older-workers-new-skills-covid-19-pandemic.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2020 AARP survey<\/a>, about 78% of older workers have either seen or experienced age discrimination in the workplace\u2014the highest level since AARP began tracking this statistic in 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/02\/07\/us\/politics\/house-bill-forced-arbitration.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York Times<\/a>&nbsp;report found that&nbsp;\u201cmore than 60 million American workers are subject to forced arbitration clauses in their employment contracts \u2014 often through fine print tucked into legal clauses of which the employees are unaware.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ILPBZb-1Zws\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Click here to watch Sen.
