Ossoff Delivering Resources to Expand LaGrange College\u2019s Nursing Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>LaGrange, Ga.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering resources to expand nursing training in West Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today Sen. Ossoff announced he is delivering Federal funding to strengthen and expand LaGrange College\u2019s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program to serve more students.&nbsp;With the funding, LaGrange College plans to purchase updated equipment and renovate facilities to create a more immersive teaching environment and increase its overall capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsbradio.com\/news\/local\/georgia-projected-have-second-largest-shortage-rns-by-2035\/EJ622663HZFEXKWL42F2LFIPWA\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According to a recent study<\/a>, the State of Georgia is projected to have the second-largest shortage of registered nurses nationwide by 2035, and Georgia currently has 21% fewer registered nurses than are needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to deliver $214,000 for the project through this year\u2019s bipartisan government funding package, working alongside Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGeorgia continues to face a critical nursing shortage. Bringing Republicans and Democrats together, I\u2019ve appropriated funds to LaGrange College for an expansion of its nurse training programs,\u201d<strong>&nbsp;Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cI thank LaGrange College President Dr. Susanna Baxter for bringing this proposal to my office and for her leadership in the community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The funding will have a far-reaching impact, according to Dr. Baxter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are eager to use these funds to prepare more nurses to serve our state,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>she said.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u201cThe classroom innovations and upgrades this grant furnishes will allow us to provide advanced learning that better simulates a real-world setting.
