Ossoff announced he is delivering new federal funding to extend United Way\u2019s 211 system into South Georgia. The United Way 211 system is a free, confidential service that helps connect families with community services, such as mental health resources, support for seniors, volunteer opportunities, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to deliver $213,000 for the project through this year\u2019s bipartisan government funding package, working alongside Congressman Earl L. \u201cBuddy\u201d Carter (GA-01).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;ve heard directly from Lowndes County leaders about the need to establish 211 services. That&#8217;s why I got to work and brought Republicans and Democrats together to establish a new 211 Center for families in Valdosta to access services and support they need,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cI thank Greater Valdosta United Way President and CEO Michael Smith for bringing this proposal to my office and for his leadership in the community.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn 2023, 211 received 15.4 million calls and made over 19 million service referrals nationally. Thanks to federal support, the GVUW is thrilled to bring this essential number to South Georgia to connect people and human services. 211 is also critical for disaster response and recovery by taking pressure off the local 911 system.
