Ossoff Delivering Upgrades to Strengthen Dementia &#038; Alzheimer\u2019s Care in Rural Georgia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Athens, Ga.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering resources to strengthen health care for Georgians with dementia and Alzheimer&#8217;s living in rural areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff is delivering Federal resources to the University of Georgia\u2019s&nbsp;Cognitive Aging Research and Education Center, which conducts vital research, education, and support for&nbsp;Alzheimer\u2019s and dementia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the resources, UGA will partner with rural hospitals and clinics across the state to strengthen telemedicine infrastructure, helping patients access the care they need when living far distances from treatment facilities. This project would also aim to provide more resources, education, and support to caretakers of those suffering from&nbsp;Alzheimer\u2019s and dementia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to deliver $500,000 for the project through this year\u2019s bipartisan government funding package, working alongside Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock, Congressman Drew Ferguson (GA-03) and Congresswoman Lucy McBath (GA-07).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThousands of Georgia families experience the difficulties of caring for loved ones with Alzheimer\u2019s and dementia every year. For families living in rural areas of our state, it\u2019s even harder to access the care they need. That&#8217;s why working alongside Senator Reverend Warnock, Congressman Ferguson, and Congresswoman McBath, we brought Republicans and Democrats together to strengthen ongoing research at UGA,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cI thank Professor Lisa M. Renzi-Hammond and the University of Georgia for bringing this proposal to my office and for their leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our goal at UGA CARE is to eventually provide support for all Georgia families living with Alzheimer&#8217;s disease.
