In 2022, Sen. Ossoff <\/em>championed<\/em><\/a> passage of the bipartisan PACT Act\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington, D.C. \u2014 <\/strong>U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is encouraging Georgia veterans to access their expanded health care benefits through the bipartisan PACT Act<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week, as a result of the bipartisan legislation championed by Sen. Ossoff,\u00a0the VA announced<\/a>\u00a0that veterans who were exposed to toxins and other hazards while serving in the military are now eligible to enroll directly in VA health care without going through the VA benefits application process. This comes as a result of passage of the bipartisan\u00a0PACT Act<\/em>, which became law in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe bipartisan\u00a0PACT Act\u00a0<\/em>is the most significant strengthening of VA health care in decades, and it was long overdue. This week the VA announced that veterans who were exposed to toxic chemicals can now enroll directly in VA health care,\u201d\u00a0Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cI encourage any Georgia veteran with questions about the\u00a0PACT Act\u00a0<\/em>or who need assistance with the VA to contact me and my office at\u00a0ossoff.senate.gov<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To apply for care or benefits today, veterans can visit VA.gov\/PACT<\/a> or call 1-800-MYVA411. More information on eligibility can also be found at VA.gov\/PACT<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff continues working to improve the health of Georgia veterans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, Sens. Ossoff, Susan Collins (R-ME), and John Thune (R-SD) introduced<\/a> the Rural Veterans Transportation to Care Act <\/em>to help more veterans in rural areas get transportation to VA health facilities and access the health care benefits they\u2019ve earned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January, thanks to Sen Ossoff\u2019s bipartisan Access for Veterans to Records Act<\/em><\/a>\u00a0becoming law, the National Archives\u00a0cleared a backlog<\/a>\u00a0of more than 400,000 records requests, enabling Georgia veterans to more quickly access their records and claim their benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
