Ossoff and Warnock are delivering $1,987,070 through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development\u2019s Healthy Homes Production Grant program to Troup County Habitat for Humanity that will be used to complete home repairs and upgrades in 60 units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Healthy Homes Production Grants help identify and repair health and safety hazards in housing units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSenator Reverend Warnock and I are delivering these resources to help improve the quality of housing for Georgia families,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Sen. Ossoff.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cWorking families in Georgia urgently need access to quality, affordable housing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGeorgia children can\u2019t grow and thrive unless they\u2019re living in a safe and healthy environment. When we fight for the health of children across the Peach State, we fight for the next generations of leaders. I\u2019ll continue working to ensure our schools and homes are hazard-free,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Sen. Warnock.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHabitat for Humanity Troup County is thrilled to announce our receipt of a HUD grant dedicated to addressing lead contamination and other hazards in the homes of eligible families in Harris, Heard, and Troup Counties in Georgia. Our commitment extends towards addressing the specific and disproportionate need for safe and healthy housing among protected class groups. These groups include individuals with disabilities, families with children, and underserved communities from the global majority,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Sandie Pike, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Troup County, Inc.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cWith the support of this grant, we are poised to make a meaningful impact by providing assistance to 30 families in Central West Georgia. This aid will primarily benefit those with members diagnosed with asthma or lead exposure, individuals residing in Justice40 areas, families with an income at 80% or more of the Area Median Income (AMI) for their county, and those facing the most severe housing renovation needs. Our aim is to ensure that the most vulnerable among us have access to sustainable, affordable, and decent housing, aligning with our mission to create a community where everyone has a safe place to call home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the latest action in Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock\u2019s continued work to help Georgia families and homeowners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last May, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.onlineathens.com\/story\/news\/local\/2023\/05\/24\/sen-jon-ossoff-visits-east-athens-to-announce-funding-for-affordable-housing-michahs-creek\/70253277007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">delivered<\/a>&nbsp;$2.8 million in Federal funding to the Athens Area Habitat for Humanity to build affordable housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last December, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sens-ossoff-rev-warnock-delivering-resources-for-housing-repairs-in-rural-georgia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">delivered<\/a>&nbsp;Federal funding through the U.S. Department of Agriculture\u2019s Housing Preservation Grants program that will be used to complete home repairs and rehabilitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/human-rights-subcommittee-chairman-ossoff-banking-housing-committee-chairman-brown-request-information-from-hud-on-abuse-of-renters-by-landlords\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pushed<\/a>&nbsp;the Federal Housing Finance Agency to address the inadequate supply of affordable housing across rural Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, Sen. Ossoff also introduced the bipartisan&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sens-ossoff-rubio-brown-introduce-bipartisan-bill-to-help-first-responders-teachers-buy-their-first-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>HELPER Act<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;alongside Sen.
