Ossoff continues bipartisan leadership to advance hydrogen energy<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Washington, D.C. \u2014&nbsp;<\/strong>U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff\u2019s bipartisan bill to advance the development of hydrogen energy for aviation passed a key U.S. Senate Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Congressman Hank Johnson\u2019s&nbsp;(GA-04)&nbsp;bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Hydrogen Aviation Strategy Act<\/em>&nbsp;passed the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee as part of this year\u2019s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bipartisan bill will jumpstart public and private sector engagement to advance the study and development of hydrogen energy for use in aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHydrogen energy is a promising opportunity to create Georgia jobs, strengthen American energy security, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in multiple sectors, including transportation,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cThis week, we advanced my bipartisan bill to strengthen research and innovation of hydrogen as a next-generation fuel for the aviation sector.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cExploring the use of hydrogen as part of the solution to decarbonizing the aviation industry is a win-win,\u201d<strong>&nbsp;said Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04), a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and Aviation subcommittee.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u201cIt means good-paying jobs \u2013 many of them union jobs \u2013 greater energy security and a pathway to meeting our vision of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. by 2050. I appreciate working with Sen. Ossoff and Sen. Graham to make this bipartisan push to make things in America.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Hydrogen Aviation Strategy Act<\/em>&nbsp;would require the FAA to establish new goals to use hydrogen energy for aviation; require the agency to consult NASA, industry partners, airlines, and hydrogen producers in the advancement of this new technology; establish a new advisory committee to develop recommendations on the adoption of hydrogen as an aviation energy source; and establish a path for certification of hydrogen-powered aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff continues to work to strengthen American energy security by championing hydrogen energy research and investments for the State of Georgia and the Southeast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, Sen. Ossoff and&nbsp;Georgia Public Service Commissioner Tim Echols&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-commissioner-tim-echols-launch-georgia-hydrogen-energy-braintrust\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">launched<\/a>&nbsp;the Georgia&nbsp;Hydrogen&nbsp;Energy Braintrust in January to strengthen energy security and attract new economic investment to the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, Sen.
