Sen. Ossoff led <\/em>bipartisan, bicameral push<\/em><\/a> to fully fund the Children\u2019s Hospital Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) program<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff delivering new funding to Egleston Children\u2019s Hospital & Scottish Rite<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHGME program provides funds for teaching hospitals to train pediatric physicians<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Atlanta, Ga. \u2014 <\/strong>U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering new resources to train more pediatric health care workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff is delivering Federal funding through the Children\u2019s Hospital Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) program to help Egleston Children\u2019s Hospital at Emory University and Scottish Rite Children\u2019s Medical Center train and retain pediatric physicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The funding will allow the hospitals to pay for resident and faculty salaries and resident training programs. Egleston Children\u2019s Hospital at Emory University will receive $609,453, and Scottish Rite Children\u2019s Medical Center will receive $109,511 through the Federal CHGME program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf you have a child experiencing a medical emergency, you need to be able to count on the health system having specialists available to save your child\u2019s life,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said. <\/strong>\u201cI brought Republicans and Democrats together to help train more pediatricians, emergency doctors, and specialists in Georgia to keep our kids safe and healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff previously led a bipartisan, bicameral push<\/a> alongside Congressman Barry Loudermilk (GA-11) to ensure the CHGME program received full funding in Fiscal Year 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to HRSA approximately 60%<\/a> of physicians trained through the CHGME program chose to remain and practice in the state where they completed their residency training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff continues to advocate for Georgia\u2019s children and their access to critical medical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, Sen. Ossoff delivered<\/a> funding to children\u2019s hospitals in the Atlanta area to address Georgia\u2019s pediatric workers shortage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff also launched<\/a> an inquiry earlier this year with GlaxoSmithKline (Haleon), Johnson & Johnson, and Perrigo on the shortage of over-the-counter children and infant\u2019s medicine in Georgia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Sens. Ossoff and Warnock helped secured a major $300 million investment into the Augusta University and Grady HealthSystems to improve maternal and pediatric health care<\/a> access for families across the state. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
