Ossoff announced the State of Georgia will receive over $1.8 billion in Fiscal Year 2024 to upgrade roads, bridges, highways, and other surface transportation systems through the bipartisan infrastructure law, which will boost the Georgia Department of Transportation\u2019s ongoing work across Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTwo years ago, we brought Republicans and Democrats together to do what\u2019s in the national interest and in Georgia\u2019s interest by passing the historic bipartisan infrastructure law \u2014 the most significant investment in America\u2019s infrastructure since the Eisenhower administration,\u201d <strong>Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong> \u201cIn Fiscal Year 2024, I am pleased to announce the bipartisan infrastructure law will deliver $1.8 billion in funding for surface transportation upgrades across the state of Georgia \u2014 upgrading roads, highways, and bridges so that they can sustain more use with less congestion, and with more safety for passengers and families who are using that infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Since passage of the bipartisan infrastructure law 2 years ago, Sen. Ossoff has already delivered funding for key projects across the State of Georgia, including:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>METRO ATLANTA &amp; NORTH GEORGIA:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$224 million for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, including a $40 million grant for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sens-ossoff-warnock-rep-williams-deliver-resources-for-atlanta-airport-concourse-d-expansion-project\/\">Concourse D improvements<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.warnock.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/senators-reverend-warnock-ossoff-secure-bipartisan-infrastructure-law-funding-for-broadband-in-rural-georgia\/\">$12.2 million<\/a> to provide communities in northwest Georgia with high-speed, low-cost internet access through construction of a 185-mile fiber route across eight counties between Chattanooga, Tennessee; Bremen, Georgia; and Atlanta, Georgia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$113 million for the Georgia Department of Transportation\u2019s (GDOT) major \u201cTransform 285\/GA-400 project,\u201d to improve and upgrade the I-285\/GA-400 interchange, one of the busiest in the state.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$56.8 million across Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Clayton Counties for highway safety improvements, including:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$31.7 million for critical pedestrian safety improvements along SR-13\/Buford Highway, just south of the DeKalb Peachtree Airport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpb.org\/news\/2023\/06\/06\/federal-grants-aimed-at-fixing-blocked-railroad-crossings\">$460,460<\/a> for DeKalb County to reduce railroad crossing delays by developing a grade separation at the Constitution Road crossing on Norfolk Southern&#8217;s Atlanta Terminal subdivision, modifying the physical infrastructure around the right-of-way to allow safe passage from one side of the tracks to the other. This crossing is located near Norfolk Southern&#8217;s Atlanta facility and is blocked approximately 45 times a day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpb.org\/news\/2023\/06\/06\/federal-grants-aimed-at-fixing-blocked-railroad-crossings\">$880,000<\/a> for Gwinnett County to conduct a study on three railroad crossings experiencing challenges with safety, traffic increases, and curved approaches to determine feasible construction alternatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sens-ossoff-warnock-rep-williams-delivering-safety-upgrades-for-pedestrians-in-downtown-atlanta\/\">$30 million<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sens-ossoff-warnock-rep-williams-delivering-safety-upgrades-for-pedestrians-in-downtown-atlanta\/\">street safety improvements<\/a> in Atlanta, including implementing safety upgrades like rectangular rapid-flashing beacons, pedestrian hybrid beacons, bicycle lanes, crosswalk lighting, roadway reconfiguration, medians, safe speed limits, edge lines, and enhanced delineation for horizontal curves at crash hot spots on the City\u2019s high-injury network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.warnock.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/senators-reverend-warnock-ossoff-secure-robust-investments-to-reconnect-historically-disadvantaged-communities-with-economic-recreational-opportunities\/\">$2 million<\/a> to support the City of Roswell\u2019s planning project to connect the existing Big Creek Parkway Trail System under GA State Route 400 to Liberty Square Park and its surrounding communities through a new multi-use path.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When the project is completed, it will unite the Liberty Square Neighborhood, long isolated by GA 400, with Roswell\u2019s town center, the City of Alpharetta, and the greater Metro Atlanta area through the Big Creek Greenway<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/news-sens-ossoff-warnock-announce-historic-upgrades-to-downtown-athens-through-bipartisan-infrastructure-law\/\">$25 million<\/a> to upgrade and complete street improvements to North Avenue in Downtown Athens, from the intersection of North Avenue and Willow Street to just north of SR-10 at the intersection of Freeman Drive\/Collins Industrial Boulevard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/news-sens-ossoff-warnock-rep-williams-delivering-25-million-to-accelerate-atlanta-beltline-construction\/\">$25 million<\/a> for the Atlanta BeltLine to build a 2.2-mile network of multi-use trails in Northeast Atlanta between the Armour\/Ottley and Lindbergh areas through the RAISE grant program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For the first time, the Atlanta BeltLine trail will connect to a MARTA transit station (at Lindbergh Center), fulfilling the vision to connect with the region\u2019s larger transportation network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.11alive.com\/article\/news\/local\/marta-grant-for-electric-buses\/85-09a6b69a-346e-4486-abf4-ec53870685ea\">$19.3 million<\/a> for MARTA to purchase electric buses and charging equipment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlantanewsfirst.com\/2023\/05\/31\/2m-epa-grant-will-help-clean-up-old-chattahoochee-brick-company-site\/\">$2.5 million<\/a> to help expedite the cleanup of hazardous materials from the old Chattahoochee Brick Company site at Parrott Ave NW and Brick Plant Road NW, which operated a brick-making factory from 1878 to 2010.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.warnock.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/senators-reverend-warnock-ossoff-secure-robust-investments-to-reconnect-historically-disadvantaged-communities-with-economic-recreational-opportunities\/\">$1 million<\/a> for the City of Atlanta\u2019s Stitch Project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$240,000 for Bartow County to plan safer streets upgrades that ensure pedestrian and commuter safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$240,000 for the City of Cedartown to plan safer streets upgrades that ensure pedestrian and commuter Georgia, including:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$2.23 million for upgrades at Southwest Georgia Regional Airport in Albany<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$2.05 million for upgrades at Valdosta Regional Airport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$8.1 million to enhance the safety and efficiency of the I-75 Interchange with State Route 31 in Lowndes County.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$5.5 million for bridge rehabilitation and preservation in Lowndes, Thomas, and Tift Counties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$3.45 million to install railroad crossing warning devices at 5 Norfolk Southern crossings in Albany.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$210,000 for Albany-Dougherty County to plan safer streets upgrades that ensure pedestrian and commuter safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/city-valdosta-receive-240-000-001800855.html\">$240,000<\/a> for the City of Valdosta to plan safer streets upgrades that ensure pedestrian and commuter safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$72,000 for the City of Leesburg to plan safer streets upgrades that ensure pedestrian and commuter safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>AUGUSTA AND THE CSRA:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$11.59 million for bridge rehabilitation and preservation along several major highways and state &amp; local routes, including I-16 and I-20, in Warren, Richmond, and Taliaferro Counties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$7.69 million to improve safety and efficiency along Willis Foreman Road, which connects US Routes 1 and 25, connecting Augusta with Macon and Savannah, respectively.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This project aims to improve the roadway capacity by widening, resurfacing, reconstructing the existing curb and gutter, sidewalks, lighting and storm sewer system on Willis Foreman Road from Deans Bridge to Peach Orchard. The proposed project enhances connectivity between two urban major corridors (US 1 and US 25).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.warnock.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/senators-reverend-warnock-and-ossoff-secure-bipartisan-infrastructure-law-investments-to-upgrade-savannah-augusta-airports\/\">$3 million <\/a>to help rehabilitate the passenger terminal building, expand the passenger holding room, and make additional maintenance upgrades at Augusta Regional Airport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.augustachronicle.com\/story\/news\/environment\/2023\/10\/05\/city-of-augusta-taking-steps-to-reduce-carbon-foot-print-by-purchasing-electric-buses\/71042210007\/\">$6.3 million<\/a> for Augusta-Richmond County to purchase electric buses and charging equipment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>COLUMBUS &amp; THE CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVER VALLEY:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$17 million to change the SR 22\/US 80\/JR Allen Pkwy interchange in Columbus into a diverging diamond, a highway construction design which increases the flow, efficiency, and safety of traffic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$1 million for the Columbus-Muscogee County to plan safer streets upgrades that ensure pedestrian and commuter safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$2.06 million for upgrades at Columbus Airport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$587,000 for upgrades at LaGrange Callaway Airport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$304,000 for upgrades at Jimmy Carter Regional Airport in Americus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$2 million for bridge rehabilitation and preservation along I-185 in Muscogee and Harris Counties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>MACON &amp; MIDDLE GEORGIA:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/senators-reverend-warnock-ossoff-secure-bipartisan-funding-for-infrastructure-projects-in-middle-georgia\/\">$4.9 million<\/a> for the Oconee Heights Streetscape and Safety Improvements Project, which will add pedestrian pathways and complete sidewalk connections to enhance community connectivity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.warnock.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/senators-reverend-warnock-and-ossoff-secure-more-than-36-million-in-bipartisan-infrastructure-law-investments-to-bring-high-speed-broadband-to-over-21000-middle-g\/\">$36.5 million<\/a> to boost high-speed internet in Bibb, Crawford, Macon, Marion, Monroe, Talbot, and Taylor counties.
