Washington, D.C. <\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff continues fighting to ensure Georgia\u2019s veterans have access to the benefits they\u2019ve earned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week, Sens. Ossoff and Mike Braun (R-IN) led<\/a> a bipartisan coalition of 20 Senators in a follow-up inquiry to the National Archives of the United States (NARA) into the backlog of veterans\u2019 record requests, requesting updated information on the status of reducing the backlog of record requests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Sens. Ossoff and Braun passed into law their bipartisan Access for Veterans to Records Act<\/em><\/a> to help address the backlog of veterans\u2019 service records nationwide and ensure veterans receive the benefits they earned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe write to express our concern regarding reports of ongoing delays in constituents receiving their military service records from the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC),\u201d Sens. Ossoff, Braun, and the group wrote<\/strong>. \u201cWhile we recognize and commend NARA for the significant strides it has made to address this backlog, we must ensure all incoming requests are still met with a timely response and that this does not occur again in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sens. Ossoff and Braun are joined on the inquiry by Sens. Jerry Moran (R-KS), Jon Tester (D-MT), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Jacky Rosen (D-NV), John Thune (R-SD), John Cornyn (R-TX), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Todd Young (R-IN), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Ben Ray Luj\u00e1n (D-NM), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Ted Cruz (R-TX), John Boozman (R-AR), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Katie Britt (R-AL), and Rick Scott (R-FL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff remains committed to ensuring that veterans across Georgia can access their benefits in a straightforward and timely manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Sen. Ossoff gave a passionate floor speech<\/a> on the importance of protecting and delivering care to veterans through the historic PACT Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, Sens. Ossoff, Mike Braun (R-IN) and Thom Tillis (R-NC) introduced a bipartisan amendment<\/a> to the Senate\u2019s Military Construction and Veterans Affairs<\/em> appropriations bill that would help expand breast cancer screenings for veterans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This summer, Sens. Ossoff and Joni Ernst (R-IA) passed<\/a> their bipartisan Investing in VETS Act <\/em>as part of this year\u2019s National Defense Authorization Act <\/em>to help service-disabled veteran business owners compete for Federal government contracts, helping expand their business opportunities to new markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
