Ossoff, Warnock Upgrading Fire Safety Across Middle Georgia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Allentown, Ga.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 Fire safety upgrades are coming to protect Middle Georgia families thanks to U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crawford County and the Allentown Volunteer Fire Department will receive funding through the Federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program for professional training, wellness and fitness programs, equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), and modifications to facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Allentown Volunteer Fire Department will also receive funding through the Federal&nbsp;Fire Prevention &amp; Safety Grant (FP&amp;S) program&nbsp;to carry out fire prevention education and training, including fire code enforcement, fire\/arson investigation, firefighter safety and health programming, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Town of Toomsboro and Wilkinson County will each receive funding through the&nbsp;Federal&nbsp;Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER)&nbsp;program&nbsp;to retain and hire firefighters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sens. Ossoff and Warnock secured resources for these Federal programs with bipartisan support through last year\u2019s government funding package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFirefighters across Middle Georgia put their lives on the line to keep families safe,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cSenator Warnock and I will never stop championing Georgia\u2019s heroic fire departments, and these resources will help them respond to emergencies that threaten lives and property.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur firefighters are some of the&nbsp;best&nbsp;among us. They run into danger to preserve our safety, and they are beacons of courage and resilience in every corner of Georgia. That is why I am honored to join Senator Ossoff in announcing these new investments in public safety for fire departments across the state,\u201d<strong>&nbsp;said Senator Reverend Warnock.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cSenator Ossoff and I will continue working to secure additional&nbsp;<a>investments<\/a>&nbsp;so these brave public servants are able to protect and serve to the fullest of their abilities.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Town of Toomsboro is very thankful and excited to receive the Fire SAFER Grant,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Toomsboro Mayor Joyce Denson.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cAlready the Grant has proven to make a significant change for the safety, health, and security of the community. Not only for the Town of Toomsboro but for the surrounding cities in Wilkinson County as well. Fireman Christopher Landrum was hired as the Recruitment and Retention Coordinator.
