Ossoff &amp; Warnock delivering funding to nine cities and counties across the state<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Resources will help fire departments upgrade equipment, purchase new vehicles, train firefighters, and more<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Decatur, Ga.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock are delivering fire safety upgrades to protect Georgia families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sens. Ossoff and Warnock are delivering new resources to nine cities and counties across Georgia through the Federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program, which provides funding to upgrade equipment, upgrade or purchase new vehicles, train firefighters, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sens. Ossoff and Warnock secured resources for the AFG program with bipartisan support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFirefighters across Georgia put their lives on the line to keep families safe,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cI will never stop championing Georgia\u2019s heroic fire departments, and these resources will help them respond to emergencies that threaten lives and property.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBoth Senator Ossoff and I understand the importance of ensuring robust preparedness for our public safety officials\u2013which is why I am proud we were able to secure these investments for our brave firefighters across Georgia,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Senator Reverend Warnock.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u201cFrom Statesboro, to Decatur, Savannah, and in between, this robust investment will help keep our friends, families, and first responders informed and equipped when confronted with crises. These new resources will allow the department to better respond to emergencies and protect the health and safety of our heroic firefighters and emergency responders. On behalf of everyone in DeKalb County, I thank Senators Ossoff and Warnock for securing these resources and continuing to deliver for DeKalb,\u201d<strong>&nbsp;DeKalb County CEO Michael L. Thurmond said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are incredibly grateful to Senator Ossoff and his team for the work they\u2019re doing to better communities in Georgia,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Statesboro Mayor Jonathan McCollar.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u201cThe monies secured by Senator Ossoff in the Assistance to Firefighters Grant will be used for to replace equipment and continue wellness initiatives for the department. Roughly $75,000 will be allotted to purchase a new air cascade system that the department uses to fill its breathing apparatuses. Approximately $35,000 will fund the continuation of the department\u2019s partnership with a local physician that provides customized preventative and wellness care for our firefighters. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our firefighters is essential to our mission to provide superior fire services for Statesboro, and we\u2019re thankful to Senator Ossoff for helping us further this mission.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur firefighters and first responders are called upon to respond to some of the toughest emergencies in our communities, and they deserve the resources to keep the public and themselves safe,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Atkinson County Commission Chairman Parker Liles.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cAtkinson County appreciates the partnership of Senators Ossoff and Warnock for helping deliver this grant to our County, which will help us support the brave men and women of our EMA\/Fire Department and keep families safe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMany thanks to Senator Ossoff for working diligently on behalf of our firefighters,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said McDuffie County Commission Chairman Charles Newton.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cWorking together we can ensure that they have the equipment and training necessary to remain safe in the harsh conditions they have to work in order to protect the lives and property of McDuffie County citizens.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sens.
