Thomasville, Ga.<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock delivered upgrades to Thomasville\u2019s infrastructure to protect families and businesses from flooding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working together, Sens. Ossoff and Warnock secured bipartisan support in Congress to help the city implement Phase 1 of its wastewater master plan to address structural challenges worsened by Hurricane Michael in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to local residents and officials, stormwater is currently infiltrating the city\u2019s wastewater system \u2014 causing water to overflow. The project aims to replace the system\u2019s mechanics, pipes, and structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSenator Warnock and I are delivering wastewater infrastructure upgrades to Thomasville to prevent floods that pose a health safety risk to Georgians,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said. <\/strong>\u201cThese upgrades will build safer, longer-lasting water infrastructure and protect Georgians\u2019 health and safety.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSenator Ossoff and I are committed to protecting and investing in the health and well-being of Georgians in every corner of the state, and that is why I am proud we were able to secure these critical funds to upgrade Thomasville\u2019s wastewater infrastructure,\u201d said Senator Reverend Warnock.<\/strong> \u201cBy investing in these public health upgrades, we are not only building a safer and more resilient water infrastructure, but also a more secure future for Georgians.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are appreciative of the support from Senator Ossoff and Senator Warnock as we move forward with improvements to the City of Thomasville\u2019s wastewater system through our multi-year capital improvement plan,\u201d Thomasville Mayor Jay Flowers said. <\/strong>\u201cThis support will benefit our residents and ensure continued growth for our city well into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe City of Thomasville has frequently faced issues with its water quality and stormwater management system,\u201d Richard Royal, Chair of Lower Flint-Ochlockonee Water Planning Council, said. <\/strong>\u201cThanks to Senator Ossoff and his team, Thomasville will now have the capabilities to weather heavy rain events and protect its residents from flooding. We are grateful for the Senator\u2019s partnership in upgrading the City’s wastewater system.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sens. Ossoff and Warnock secured $1,200,000 for the project with bipartisan support in last year\u2019s government funding package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
