Ossoff helped advance a package of bipartisan legislation \u2014 bringing together Democrats and Republicans to pass a fleet of bills dedicated to reducing these burdensome costs for Georgians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want to thank my bipartisan colleagues, Republicans and Democrats, for our collaborative effort to lower prescription drug prices for Georgians and all Americans,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/PNiX5WecXKY\"><strong>Sen. Ossoff said at yesterday\u2019s hearing.<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>\u201cI urge this committee and the full Senate to pass this legislation so that Americans are not ripped off by drug companies every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The package of bipartisan bills are aimed at:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Boosting competition in the pharmaceutical sector, which will allow companies to offer lower-cost alternatives<\/li><li>Increasing oversight of pharmacy benefit managers that regulate prescription drug benefits<\/li><li>Improving transparency and fairness in the entire prescription drug supply chain<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thecurrentga.org\/2021\/04\/21\/for-many-insurance-doesnt-prevent-high-costs-from-prescriptions\/\"><em>The Current<\/em><\/a>, Georgia ranks fourth in the nation for highest out-of-pocket prescription drug costs, and the state possess the third-highest number of uninsured people living in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bills (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/senate-bill\/79?s=1&amp;r=1\">S. 79<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/senate-bill\/113\">S.113<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/senate-bill\/142\">S. 142<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/senate-bill\/148?s=1&amp;r=23\">S. 148<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/senate-bill\/150\">S.150<\/a>)&nbsp;<a>now<\/a>&nbsp;head to the U.S. Senate floor for a vote.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sen.
