Sens. Ossoff and Warnock, Rep. Williams deliver $40 million through bipartisan infrastructure law for airport upgrades<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Announced last summer, funding is being delivered to expand Concourse E as first phase of Concourse D widening project<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project to create 175 jobs<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington, D.C. <\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock and Congresswoman Nikema Williams are delivering upgrades to passenger experience at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sens. Ossoff and Warnock and Rep. Williams today announced the $40 million they secured through the bipartisan infrastructure law is being delivered to fund the first phase of the Concourse D expansion project announced last summer.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first phase of the project will create 175 jobs and add additional gate capacity in Concourse E while Concourse D is under construction, mitigating disruptions to airport operations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sens. Ossoff and Warnock and Rep. Williams previously announced the $40 million project<\/a> through the bipartisan infrastructure law for the Concourse D expansion project, which will widen and modernize the concourse and upgrade passenger experience with expanded waiting areas, larger restrooms, improved ADA accessibility, an expanded central concourse corridor, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are upgrading Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to improve airport efficiency and passenger safety and experience,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said. <\/strong>\u201cThese upgrades are possible thanks to the bipartisan infrastructure law we passed last Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport is one of our nation\u2019s most important economic engines,\u201d said Senator Reverend Warnock.<\/strong> \u201cI\u2019m pleased to see federal dollars flow to the Airport to alleviate plane traffic, ensuring the busiest airport in the country continues to be a safe and effective hub for air travel.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI secured this $40 million grant because upgrading Terminals D and E is one of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport’s most critical projects. Widening Terminal D and Expanding Terminal E will ensure Hartsfield-Jackson can continue to serve everyone in Georgia\u2019s Fifth Congressional District and beyond who rely on the airport. Our hometown airport is the world\u2019s busiest and most efficient airport, the country\u2019s most important piece of civilian infrastructure, and a source of Black wealth. Bringing home more investments in our airport will ensure it can keep flying high for generations to come,\u201d said Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs we continue to grow the world\u2019s busiest airport with the widening of Concourse D, we also want to ensure Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport remains the world\u2019s most efficient airport. This grant to add gates to Concourse E will allow us to do just that while creating good-paying jobs for a diverse workforce. Atlanta has long-found solid partners in the Biden Administration and our federal delegation\u2014including Senators Ossoff and Warnock and Congresswoman Williams\u2014and on behalf of the City of Atlanta, I want to thank them for bolstering our infrastructure to ensure we are a city built for the future,\u201d said Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis grant speaks volumes about the Administration\u2019s focus on infrastructure improvement and ATL\u2019s ability to ensure sound financial management of a major capital improvement program,\u201d said Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport General Manager Balram \u201cB\u201d Bheodari.<\/strong> \u201cThe money invested here will allow ATL to maintain its position as an industry leader for decades ahead.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bipartisan infrastructure law included roughly $619 million for Georgia\u2019s airports to improve efficiency, upgrade terminals, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2021, Sens. Ossoff and Warnock also secured<\/a> $13.5 million to update nine airports across Georgia, including Augusta Regional and Columbus Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sens. Ossoff and Warnock also announced<\/a> $6 million in grants from the Department of Transportation to improve the travel experience at the Savannah\/Hilton Head International Airport.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
