Georgia Ports Authority: \u201cThrough these proposed upgrades, the port will attract more jobs to the region, while supporting the efficient service of larger vessels with greater capacity\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington, D.C.<\/strong> \u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff\u2019s bill to improve efficiency at the Port of Brunswick is now law.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff\u2019s Port of Brunswick Navigation Channel Improvement Act <\/em>will make upgrades to the Port\u2019s navigation channel to help increased shipping traffic safely navigate the Port \u2014 boosting capacity and helping reduce supply chain bottlenecks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Port is already the second busiest for roll-on roll-off cargo nationwide, and according to the Georgia Ports Authority, the expanded channel would permit newer ships to use the Port, boost efficiency, attract more investment, and create more local jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy new law will help expand capacity at the Port of Brunswick and ease pressure on supply chains. Georgia\u2019s port infrastructure supports prosperity in Coastal Georgia, helps make our state a world leader in logistics, and is essential to the continued growth of our manufacturing sector,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock co-sponsored the bill with Sen. Ossoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen our ports grow and thrive, so does Georgia. I speak regularly with port leaders, employees and the Army Corps of Engineers, so I understand the importance of securing these investments to make upgrades to the Port of Brunswick\u2019s Harbor,\u201d said Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock. <\/strong>\u201cThis will improve port safety and efficiency, as well as support Brunswick\u2019s growing economy. I\u2019ve been laser-focused on relieving supply chain issues at our ports that have contributed to rising costs for Georgia families. I look forward to continuing to work to ensure Georgia ports have the resources they need to be competitive in our global economy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
