Ossoff launched an inquiry with the FBI into its facial recognition policies and practices to ensure that the Bureau respects the freedoms and privacy the First and Fourth Amendments guarantee for Georgians and all Americans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a letter, Sen. Ossoff and Congressman Ted Lieu (D-CA-33) and Congresswoman Yvette Clark (D-NY-09) ask the FBI for more information on how it uses facial recognition technology, warning of possible abuses to Constitutional rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAmong our principal concerns are First Amendment issues related to the use of facial recognition,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>the Members of Congress wrote.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cThe information requested by this letter will help the American people\u2019s lawful representatives better understand how the FBI \u2013 and law enforcement agencies using the FBI\u2019s tools \u2013 are employing facial recognition technology.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff also demands answers from the agency on the accuracy of the facial recognition systems it uses, as studies&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/technology\/2019\/12\/19\/federal-study-confirms-racial-bias-many-facial-recognition-systems-casts-doubt-their-expanding-use\/\">have reported<\/a>&nbsp;that women and minorities are more likely to be misidentified by these technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCongress needs full visibility into the use of facial recognition technology in domestic investigations given the significant privacy, national security, and First Amendment implications,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff has been leading the charge to protect Americans\u2019 privacy and Constitutional rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, Sen. Ossoff and Sen. Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sens-ossoff-cassidy-introduce-bipartisan-legislation-to-give-americans-control-of-their-online-data\/\">introduced<\/a>&nbsp;the bipartisan Data Elimination and Limiting Extensive Tracking and Exchange (DELETE) Act, legislation that would enable and empower Americans to request that data brokers delete their personal data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In March, during Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson\u2019s confirmation hearings, Sen.
