Ossoff continues championing efforts to make government resources accessible in more languages<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Washington, D.C. \u2014&nbsp;<\/strong>U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working to protect Georgians from scams when sending money abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, in a letter to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Sen. Ossoff urged Director Rohit Chopra to boost public awareness regarding common scams with remittances for non-English speakers to protect Georgians from scams.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each year, thousands of Georgians send millions of dollars to&nbsp;<a>loved<\/a>&nbsp;ones abroad and are at risk of falling into scams and fraud due to a lack of financial information resources in other languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI represent a state with vibrant, diverse communities where a multitude of languages prevail, including Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, Hindi, Arabic, and Japanese. I urge the CFPB to provide updates and press releases regarding money service provider scams and fraud in the top eight languages spoken in the United States. It is imperative that non-English speaking communities in the United States have the same access to helpful guidance and protection offered by the CFPB,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff wrote.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Expanding the availability of government resources in additional languages allows more people to understand their rights in their preferred language and protect themselves from scams sending remittances.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Georgia,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/quickfacts\/fact\/table\/GA,atlantacitygeorgia\/POP815220\">14% of households<\/a>&nbsp;speak a language other than English with Spanish, Korean, and Vietnamese being the second most spoken languages in more than 900,000 homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff continues to champion language accessibility for all Georgians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, Sen.
