Ossoff\u2019s Bipartisan Bill to Help Military Families Afford Housing Passes U.S. House<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, D.C.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff\u2019s bipartisan bill to help military families afford housing yesterday passed the U.S. House of Representatives.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sens. Ossoff and Marco Rubio (R-FL) led the charge to help more servicemembers living in higher-cost areas afford safe and quality housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Military families shouldn&#8217;t have to worry about putting a roof over their heads while serving our nation,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u201cI&#8217;m working with both Democrats and Republicans to ensure Georgia\u2019s military families have access to affordable and quality housing.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sens. Ossoff and Rubio\u2019s bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Military Housing Affordability Act of 2022<\/em>&nbsp;passed as part of this year\u2019s&nbsp;<em>National Defense Authorization Act<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill will grant the Secretary of Defense the authority to adjust the basic allowance for housing (BAH) rates where the cost of adequate housing differs more than 20% from the current BAH rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DoD\u2019s current authority expires on September 30, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/22.06.08_BAH-Bill-Rubio.pdf\"><strong>Click here<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;to read the&nbsp;<em>Military Housing Affordability Act<\/em>&nbsp;<em>of 2022.<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Washington, D.C.&nbsp;\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff\u2019s bipartisan bill to help military families afford housing yesterday passed the U.S. House of Representatives.&nbsp; Sens.
