Jon Ossoff Honors Dr. Carlos del R\u00edo\u2019s Service to Georgia<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMr. President, I rise today to honor Dr. Carlos del R\u00edo, MD for his outstanding service to the state of Georgia and the entire nation for more than 25 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDr. del R\u00edo, a native of Mexico, is a distinguished and awarded professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Emory University School of Medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe has been a leader in epidemiology and research on diseases affecting the immune system and issues related to early diagnosis of HIV, access to care, and compliance with antiretrovirals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThroughout his years of service, Dr. del R\u00edo has worked with underserved populations to improve outcomes of those infected with HIV and to prevent infection with those at risk. His work has been published in multiple books and hundreds of scientific papers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe COVID-19 pandemic only sharpened the public\u2019s ability to see Dr. Del R\u00edo\u2019s leadership first-hand, with countless Georgians and Americans turning to his expertise and guidance during such unsettling times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDr. del R\u00edo continues to excel at serving our country and our Georgia community.
