Ossoff Demands Answers About Child Cup Safety Following Recalls<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, D.C. \u2014&nbsp;<\/strong>U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is demanding answers about the safety of child drinking cups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week, Green Sprouts&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/greensproutsbaby.com\/pages\/recall\">announced a recall<\/a>&nbsp;of child sippy cups after discovering a lead contamination risk \u2014 admitting to failed oversight of the manufacturing process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff today&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/22.12.01_Letter-to-Green-Sprouts-Signed.pdf\">demanded answers<\/a>&nbsp;from Green Sprouts about the safety of their products, what they are doing to ensure the safety of other products currently being sold, and what will be done to prevent the oversight from happening again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAccording to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there is no safe blood lead level in children, and even low levels in blood can have negative effects, including damage to the brain and nervous system, slowed growth and development, learning and behavior problems, and hearing and speech problems,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff wrote to Green Sprouts.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Sen. Ossoff demanded Green Sprouts answer the following questions in writing within two weeks:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Do any of your products that are sold and marketed for children and infants contain lead, even if deemed by the organization and Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act-compliant labs to be inaccessible under normal use?<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\" start=\"2\"><li>If any of your other products that are sold and marketed for children and infants do contain lead, why and in which products?<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\" start=\"3\"><li>In light of your recent recall decision, what steps are you taking to reach out to consumers who have purchased these products to ensure child safety?<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\" start=\"4\"><li>Will you commit to a comprehensive safety review of your manufacturing processes to ensure every product is carefully checked and tested to avoid the same mistake?<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The recall applies to the Green Sprouts 6-ounce Stainless Steel Sippy Cup, Sip &amp; Straw Cup and its 8-ounce Stainless Steel Straw Bottle.
