Following his conversations with <\/em>poultry leaders and agricultural research specialists<\/em><\/a>, Sen. Ossoff secured resources to expand meat and poultry processing, create jobs in rural Georgia, and strengthen supply chains<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington, D.C. \u2014 <\/strong>Following his work with agricultural leaders across the state, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff secured new resources to strengthen Georgia\u2019s meat and poultry processing industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June, Sen. Ossoff convened a roundtable<\/a> with Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, Georgia Poultry Federation President Mike Giles, <\/strong>and agricultural leaders in Gainesville to discuss strengthening Georgia\u2019s agricultural sector and workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, following their push, Sens. Ossoff and Warnock and a bipartisan group of Georgia\u2019s Congressional Delegation successfully secured new resources through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to expand Georgia\u2019s meat-processing capacity and create new agriculture jobs in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Georgia Meat and Poultry Revolving Loan Fund will help meat and poultry processors support and grow their operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGeorgia farmers have demanded access to more meat and poultry processing options,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said. <\/strong>\u201cWe have succeeded in securing USDA funds to finance new processors that will serve Georgia farmers. I will continue working every day to support Georgia agriculture, and I thank Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black for his help with this effort.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis grant is about creating jobs in rural counties and lowering food costs for all Georgians,\u201d Senator Reverend Warnock said.<\/strong> \u201cStrengthening our food supply chain is crucial to keeping grocery store shelves full and food prices low. That\u2019s why I was proud to lead my colleagues in the Georgia delegation to push for this federal investment to support Georgia\u2019s meat processing industry. I look forward to continuing to work with partners on the ground to secure robust investments for our state\u2019s industries.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
