Ossoff&nbsp;led Georgia businesses, universities, transportation agencies, and environmentalists&nbsp;<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/22.06.07_H2H-Statement.pdf\"><em>in support of a&nbsp;<\/em><\/a><em>Georgia bid<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Atlanta, Ga.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff\u2019s push to strengthen energy security with&nbsp;hydrogen&nbsp;energy infrastructure for Georgia is gaining momentum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CabreraAngel\/status\/1520136334911885313?s=20&amp;t=qkUlgQwFSYIo7jjZ_cPYSw\">convened Georgia business and research leaders<\/a>&nbsp;to plan Georgia\u2019s development of hydrogen energy infrastructure through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, in June, Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;led a coalition of Georgia energy companies, universities, public transportation agencies, and clean energy advocates&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/22.06.07_H2H-Statement.pdf\">in support of a<\/a>&nbsp;partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy. Last week, Sen. Ossoff\u2019s office convened key partners in Camden County to discuss coastal Georgia\u2019s vital role in this cutting-edge energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, a regional business coalition&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/major-southeast-utilities-establish-hydrogen-152900252.html\">announced<\/a>&nbsp;it would bid to establish hydrogen energy infrastructure across Georgia and the Southeast through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, strengthening energy independence and economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have been leading this effort because advanced hydrogen energy infrastructure will strengthen Georgia\u2019s energy security and help Georgia businesses and families thrive,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Sen. Ossoff.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The coalition includes Battelle, Southern Company, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), Dominion Energy, Duke Energy, Louisville Gas &amp; Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company (LG&amp;E and KU), and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSouthern Company views hydrogen as a powerful opportunity to provide an energy system that is abundant, affordable, reliable and resilient in a net-zero future,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Chris Cummiskey, executive vice president, chief commercial officer and customer solutions officer, Southern Company.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cWith the nation\u2019s leading utilities forming a solid, customer-centered foundation, the Southeast Hydrogen Hub promises to become a new catalyst for economic development and growth, while bringing broad, economywide decarbonization to the customers and communities we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTVA is committed to our mission of service that makes life better for the people we serve,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Dr. Joe Hoagland, vice president, TVA Innovation &amp; Research.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cAs a member of the Southeast Hydrogen Hub coalition with Battelle and the Southeast\u2019s premier energy providers, we are equipped and ready to maximize development of hydrogen as a much-needed alternative fuel.
