Ossoff also leading bipartisan push to bring new health research agency to Georgia<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Atlanta, Ga.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is leading the charge to expand health research opportunities for students at&nbsp;Historically Black Colleges and Universities&nbsp;and Minority Serving Institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff is pushing to help students and researchers at HBCUs, MSIs, and institutions with a high proportion of Pell Grant recipients work on health research projects that aim to find cures for cancer, Alzheimer\u2019s, diabetes, and other diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Senate is currently considering the\u00a0<em>Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health Act<\/em>, or ARPA-H Act, which would establish a new agency to coordinate and drive high impact, innovative health research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today in a letter, Sen. Ossoff called on the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions to include his&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/22.10.20_Ossoff-Letter-and-Text-to-HELP-Committee-on-ARPAH-Signed.pdf\">proposed provisions<\/a>&nbsp;ensuring ARPA-H would collaborate and create partnerships with HBCUs, MSIs, and colleges that serve a high proportion of Pell Grant recipients&nbsp;on nationwide research&nbsp;projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor ARPA-H led research to be maximally effective, and for this research enterprise to create opportunity to excel and contribute across American society, this research investment must include institutions that serve, train, and employ socioeconomically and racially diverse researchers and experts.\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff wrote.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this summer, Sen. Ossoff also joined with Georgia\u2019s Congressional Delegation&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.warnock.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/06.21.2022-Georgia-Delegation-ARPA-H-Letter.pdf\">urging<\/a>&nbsp;the new ARPA-H agency be headquartered in Georgia, pointing to the state\u2019s world-class talent, dynamic commercial technology sector, and rich public health research legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/22.10.20_Ossoff-Letter-and-Text-to-HELP-Committee-on-ARPAH-Signed.pdf\"><strong>Click here<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;to read Sen.
