Qcells to invest $171 million in new solar module manufacturing facility in Dalton<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qcells CEO: \u201cNobody has been a bigger champion for Qcells and domestic solar manufacturing than Senator Ossoff\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff continuing push to make Georgia the national leader in clean energy technology & manufacturing<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dalton, Ga.<\/strong> \u2014 Today, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff announced nearly 500 new jobs are coming to North Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dalton-based Qcells will expand its solar module manufacturing facility, investing $171 million and creating nearly 500 local jobs in and around Whitfield County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are proud to announce our new solar module manufacturing plant will be in Dalton, Georgia. Nobody has been a bigger champion for Qcells and domestic solar manufacturing than Senator Ossoff,\u201d said Qcells CEO Justin Lee.<\/strong> \u201cHis landmark Solar Energy Manufacturing for America Act<\/em>, if passed, would create a new paradigm in which this would be the first of many such investments made in Georgia and around the United States.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI appreciate Qcells\u2019 sustained and growing investment in Georgia and the working relationship we\u2019ve built to create more jobs and opportunities for Georgians. I will continue working to make Georgia a world leader in renewable energy innovation and manufacturing,\u201d Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff met with Qcells\u2019 parent company Hanwha<\/a> in Seoul last year and has been instrumental in pitching and securing additional clean energy investment in Georgia, also recently helping secure<\/a> Hyundai\u2019s electric vehicle investment that will create over 8,000 jobs in Bryan County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff also met with<\/a> Qcells\u2019 leadership in Dalton last year and has championed Federal legislation to supercharge domestic solar production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qcells cites Sen. Ossoff\u2019s Solar Energy Manufacturing for America Act <\/em>as a key reason for the additional investments in the U.S. and has promised additional multi-billion dollar investments<\/a> in domestic solar manufacturing in Georgia and the United States upon passage of Sen. Ossoff\u2019s legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Ossoff\u2019s legislation<\/a> will supercharge domestic solar manufacturing, create tens of thousands<\/a> of good-paying jobs in Georgia and nationwide, help meet the U.S.\u2019 ambitious goal of having solar energy account for 40% of U.S. energy by 2035, and accelerate the transition to clean energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expansion will bring an additional 1.4 gigawatts of new annual module capacity, bringing Qcells\u2019 total production capacity in Georgia to 3.1 gigawatts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
