Ossoff is launching a push to pass the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Reauthorization Act of 2022<\/em>, legislation he co-sponsored to improve public safety and help law enforcement respond to calls involving mental health emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m focused on the safety of Georgia communities every day,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill would strengthen programs and initiatives that help train law enforcement officials on better responding to individuals suffering from mental health or substance abuse crises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill would also allow local law enforcement agencies to support enhancements to mental health and substance abuse services, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Integrating the new 988 mental health crisis line into emergency call centers<\/li><li>Deploying co-responder teams of mental health professionals with 24\/7, 365 response capability<\/li><li>Improving access to case management services and suicide prevention programs<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>###<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Washington, D.C.&nbsp;\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is continuing to support local law enforcement agencies in Georgia.
