Ossoff Pushing IRS to Process Georgians\u2019 Tax Refunds Faster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington D.C.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2014 U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working to hold the IRS accountable and ensure Georgia families receive their tax returns and refunds faster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/IRS-Letter.pdf\">In a letter<\/a>&nbsp;today, Sen Ossoff asked IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig for a detailed strategy to address the tax return backlog after hearing from Georgians about hurdles they are facing as they wait for tax refunds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff is also working to secure funding to update the IRS\u2019s infrastructure and software, improve customer service, and speed up the processing of returns for all Georgians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI urge the IRS to deploy all necessary tools, expertise, and relationships at its disposal to ensure our constituents&nbsp;and&nbsp;taxpayers&nbsp;who have yet to have their tax returns processed are able to move forward with the processing of their returns and receive their corresponding refunds as soon as possible,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff wrote.<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of December 31, 2021, the tax return backlog&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/tax-refund-when-get-irs-returns-2022-02-16\/\">stood at 6 million unprocessed individual tax returns<\/a>, which is significantly higher than usual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Georgians needing help with tax returns, the IRS, or other issues with the Federal government should visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/\">Ossoff.senate.gov<\/a>\u00a0or call Sen.
