Ossoff: \u201cI urge the Review Board to begin their vital work as quickly as possible to swiftly secure&nbsp;justice\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Atlanta, Ga.<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u2013 U.S.\u00a0Senator Jon Ossoff is pushing for swift action to secure justice for the victims of civil rights\u00a0crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Sen. Ossoff\u2019s urging, last night the U.S. Senate confirmed&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/news.emory.edu\/stories\/2021\/06\/er_cold_case_review_board\/campus.html\">two Georgians<\/a>&nbsp;\u2014 Emory&nbsp;University archivist Gabrielle Dudley and Emory University Professor and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist&nbsp;Hank Klibanoff \u2014&nbsp;to the Civil Rights Cold Case Review Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sens-ossoff-cruz-introduce-bipartisan-legislation-to-secure-justice-for-civil-rights-cold-case-victims\/\">introduced bipartisan legislation<\/a>&nbsp;to continue the investigations of unsolved civil rights crimes, granting the board through 2027 to continue its&nbsp;work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cVictims of lynchings and unsolved civil rights crimes deserve justice, and so do their families. I urge the Review Board to begin their vital work as quickly as possible to swiftly secure&nbsp;justice,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen. Ossoff said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/es\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-pledges-support-for-civil-rights-cold-case-review-board\/\">reiterated his firm support<\/a>&nbsp;for the&nbsp;Civil&nbsp;Rights&nbsp;Cold&nbsp;Case&nbsp;Records Review Board during a Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the Review Board was formally authorized and signed into law by former President Donald Trump in 2019, Board members were not nominated until last year and confirmed last night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><br># # #<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sen.
