Ossoff Pushing Legislation to Reduce Veteran Homelessness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, D.C. \u2014<\/strong>&nbsp;U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working to reduce veteran homelessness, continuing his push to support those who have served.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff is working to pass&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/117\/bills\/s2172\/BILLS-117s2172is.pdf\">legislation<\/a><em>&nbsp;<\/em>to expand support for veterans and ensure those struggling with housing insecurity have access to permanent, affordable housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur national honor requires that we lift up and support all who have sacrificed in America\u2019s defense. That\u2019s why I continue working to end veteran homelessness in Georgia and nationwide,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Sen. Ossoff<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Housing Assistance Council, more than 40,000 veterans in Georgia lived below the poverty line in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the latest in a long list of legislative efforts Sen. Ossoff is championing to support Georgia\u2019s veterans and servicemembers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Ossoff is working to pass the bipartisan&nbsp;<em>Major Richard Star Act<\/em>&nbsp;to ensure that Georgia\u2019s combat-disabled veterans receive the full retirement pay and disability benefits they deserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is also pushing the&nbsp;<em>Military Hunger Prevention Act of 2021<\/em>&nbsp;to address food insecurity among servicemembers and their families and the&nbsp;<em>Save Our Servicemembers Act,&nbsp;<\/em>bipartisan legislation he co-sponsored to improve suicide prevention efforts for military servicemembers in Georgia and across the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In September, Sen.
