Ossoff, the U.S. Department of State agreed to use their authority to ramp up efforts to address the ongoing shortage of nurses and health care workers at hospitals in Georgia and nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Last month,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/21.11.04_Ossoff-Letter-to-Blinken.pdf\">Sen. Ossoff called on U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken<\/a>&nbsp;to bolster the American medical system and address the ongoing shortages by rushing the support of qualified nurses and health care professionals from around the world to the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Georgia hospitals have recruited health care professionals from around the world, but up until now, backlogs in processing prevented many from coming when urgently needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/H20211109-003_Ossoff.pdf\">State Department committed to expediting the process<\/a>&nbsp;and working to ensure qualified health care professionals from around the world can help where they are most needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to&nbsp;<em>The Atlanta Journal-Constitution<\/em>, the nursing shortage in Georgia is at \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/coronavirus\/georgia-nursing-shortage-at-crisis-levels\/G37X6GW2HRDEXGWB6OS6OBA5KE\/\">crisis levels<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\u201cHealth care professionals from around the world have played vital roles throughout the course of the COVID-19 pandemic and are crucial members of our nation\u2019s health care workforce. I urge you to take immediate action and direct the State Department to increase the resources available to address this backlog of health care professionals,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Sen.
